The Pursuit of Positive Posts

Well, I finally did it.  I finally lost a (Facebook and real life) friend due to posting an "offensive" meme.  It was bound to happen.  Honestly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I posted a meme comparing a quote from Hitler to a quote from Hilary Clinton.  I'm sure most of you have seen it, but if you haven't, I apologize, but I'm not going to repost it again.  It's very negative and apparently very offensive to at least one person that I know.

I think the saddest part is the fact that he thinks his friendship didn't mean much to me just because we haven't seen each other in about 20 years.  What he fails to realize is that it did mean a lot.  He was one of the first people I met at college and I always admired him for many different reasons.

While I didn't realize that the meme that I shared would be that disastrous to any friendships that I have, it was a very negative post and that leads me to today's blog post.

While I think the whole thing got totally blown out of proportion and I think he took extremely drastic measures to not only unfriend me, but he also blocked me completely.  On top of that, he also made a post on his Facebook page specifically naming me (which most people have the courtesy to only give first names or no names at all, such as I'm doing, but I suppose he feels the need to do so) and showing a screenprint of part of the conversation.  Although at first, it upset me, upon further reflection, I realized that the whole event has made me think a lot about myself and my actions.  I would like to publicly apologize for any offense that I may have made against him, I certainly didn't share the meme with that goal in mind.  And I would like to thank him.  Without his drastic measures, I would not have taken stock in myself.

As I said, this was bound to happen... losing a friend, that is... considering that I'm a Christian, that, in and of itself is offensive to many people.  And I'm a Mormon (a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints... no, not the people on tv with the multiple wives.  Those people are not members of our church.) and being Mormon offends a whole bunch of other people.  I lost a lot of friends when I joined the church, but that's a whole other story.

But, as I said, this whole issue has made me really look at myself and the kind of person I want to be.  At first, I was upset that he posted (after blocking me and thinking that I wouldn't find out) his disgruntled response and posting my full name.  But then, I realized that I'd done the same thing to Hilary.  While she's a politician and is probably used to such demeaning memes and comments, that doesn't mean it was right for me to do.

I'm no politician, but I'm also used to derogatory and nasty statements, having received more than my fair share as a kid, but they hurt just as much now as they did when I was younger.  So, I also would like to apologize to Hilary.  No, I don't think she should be president and no I don't particularly like her nor her politics, but I certainly don't want to hurt her or anyone else for that matter.  Do I think she actually saw my post?  Ppffftthhh, no, of course not, but I don't need to keep the negativity going.  And if I'm a Christian, then why would it be ok for me to post such a nasty meme?  It's not.

Does that mean that I won't hurt anyone again?  No, I'm sure I'll do something at some point to offend someone again.  Like I said, I'm a Christian and a Mormon, so right off the bat, I'm offensive to thousands and thousands of people just for breathing.

But I have come to realize that I need to be more positive and stay away from as much negativity as I can. So I have decided to make a #PursuitOfPositivePosts Challenge.  For the next 30 days, I'm going to try to post, share, and make only positive posts on any and all social media that I get on.

So, it begins.... Positive Posts!  Who's with me?  Post a comment below and let me know if you're up for the challenge to bring positive posts to the world and have a better outlook on life.

Being Mommy...

Well, I was at a loss today of what to post... that is, until I came across this pic on Facebook from someecards.com.  I think I want to get it on a mug!

OMGoodness, I feel completely redeemed now!  I'm not the only one who feels this way!  I'm sooo tired of ALWAYS having to share with Little Man... just for ONCE, I'd like to be able to eat a candy bar or bowl of ice cream (or anything, for that matter) without sharing!  LOL  I'll usually gobble my candy bar down when hubby's changing Little Man's diaper (our closets are too full o'crap for me to hide in!)

Had some pumpkin seeds today and refused to share (didn't think a two year old should eat those yet, come to think of it, I probably shouldn't have either, because of all the salt) and you'd think the world was ending!  I think that was the most traumatic experience of his little life, to date!  I mean, the face on that little guy!  I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry with him, it was so pathetic.  I actually tried to get a picture of his little face with the red eyes and the tears, but none of them did him or his tantrum justice.

So, does this make me a bad mother?  No, but it sure feels like it!  It's so hard to not spoil such an adorable child, and that's probably why his tantrum was so bad... because he's terribly spoiled.  Here's a pic of him at his Big Bubby's birthday party, all dirty, playing outside... he's ALL boy!

May 2012
And here's another one... again, dirty, after playing outside in the mud.  It had just rained and daddy took him out into the yard to explore.

Who could resist that face?!  Not me... not daddy... not big bubby... which is why he's spoiled!

Speaking of "spoiled"... as I attached the pics above, I hear Little Man at the bedroom door, trying to get out.  It's not closed all the way, just opened a crack, so I'm wondering why he's not just coming on out, like he does on so many occasions.  Well, he had his Blanky and his "Piboh" (pillow) and with both in his little hands, he couldn't maneuver his way out of the bedroom.  He just melts my heart.  Never thought I could love someone as much as I love my son!

Missing In Action...

(A personal reflection)
I just don't get it sometimes.  People disappear off the face of the web without so much as a kiss my patooty, or anything.  I was playing WoW the other day and came across another hunter character as we were both interested in the same rare pet (Arcturis) and for a couple days, we would each check in and chit-chat a bit, we were also under the agreement to let each other know if one of us got the pet and what time, etc. (for spawning timer info.)  Then, he up and apparently deletes his toon.  No longer on my friends list, no longer on the website armory database.  Just gone.  And he was a high level toon, so it's not like a new character where a lot of time hadn't been invested... this was a level 76-78 character.  *scratches head in thought*

Then I just happened to think of a RL ("real life" for those non-gamers out there) friend whom I hadn't seen around Facebook lately (she lives across the country, so it's not like I can just drive down the street to her house) and so I looked for her.... and she's gone!  Now, I know FB has changed quite a bit... and I know that some people prune their friend lists now and then, cutting out those people who aren't the most active in their lives.  Hence, I would probably be one of those.  But to not find her at all?  That means either she blocked me or she deleted her FB account.  I really can't see either one of those happening.  I certainly hadn't done anything to upset the applecart and get myself blocked.  I suppose she could have deleted her account, but she had been an active person on there, so that reason would make me concerned.

*sigh*

Then again, maybe it's me and I should get off the computer and actually participate in the world outside my house!  Hmmmmm...... nah.......

Well, maybe that would help.  If I actually got some fresh air and saw a few friends on a regular basis.  Which we did today.  We took Buggaboo to the park (can you believe I didn't get any pictures?!?!)  and the guys played with the little one and us girls sat and talked.  It was so nice, especially since the weather isn't so blasted hot.

Then we got home, I put Buggaboo down for a snooze (he fell asleep in the car ride home) and I immediately got on the computer.  Not that I'm addicted to the internet or anything.

On a side note:  I'm getting supplies ready for the Gardening Craft, but I'm having a hard time finding one thing, so I'll keep you posted.  I may need to rethink a few things if I can't find this elusive item.

Help me bring The Saratov Approach around the world!
